We offer home visits from a community worker with seniors.

The counsellor’s mission is to identify and get in touch with seniors who may be experiencing a situation of isolation or making them vulnerable.

The counsellor leads the person to identify his or her needs, refers and accompanies him/her, according to his/her wishes, to the most appropriate resources in the community.

The approach is respectful, confidential and at the person’s pace. One of the objectives is to preserve or give back to the older adult the power he or she has over his or her life.

The person is therefore involved in the decision-making and the steps taken to meet his or her needs.

What is SécuriCAB?

SécuriCAB is a free service specifically designed for seniors, offering daily monitoring to subscribers to ensure their safety and provide peace of mind for both them and their family members. This service includes daily automated calls to check on the well-being of subscribers and detect any potential emergencies. It also includes reminders for taking medication and/or meals.

Who can benefit from it?

All retired seniors, those with health issues, or those living alone can benefit from SécuriCAB.

How SécuriCAB works

After registering and choosing their preferred days and times for the calls, the subscriber will receive automated calls according to their subscription type. There are 3 types of alerts available:

1- Monitoring or security alerts

⦁ 1st security call: Your phone rings and the system asks you to press the number 1 if you are well. If you answer and press the number 1, the process ends, indicating that everything is okay. If, however, you do not answer or you hang up…

⦁ A 2nd security call is made 5 minutes later with the same instructions as the previous one. If you answer and press the number 1, the process ends, indicating that everything is okay. If you still do not answer, or you hang up…

⦁ A 3rd security call is made under the same conditions as the previous ones, 5 minutes after the second call. If you answer and press the number 1, the process ends, indicating that everything is okay. If, after this 3rd and final call, you still do not answer or you hang up, an alert is immediately generated by the system and sent to the SécuriCAB coordinator at the ACCÈS Volunteer Action Center (CAB ACCÈS). The coordinator will then contact the subscriber, and all the emergency contacts listed in the subscriber’s file, to ensure that the subscriber is well. The coordinator may ask one of these contacts to go to the subscriber’s home to confirm that they are well.

If none of the contacts can confirm that the subscriber is well, the SécuriCAB coordinator at CAB ACCÈS will contact the emergency services in their region. They will then go to the subscriber’s home to check on them and will subsequently inform CAB ACCÈS of the subscriber’s condition.

2- Medication Reminder Alerts

Your phone rings, you answer, and the system reminds you that it’s time to take your medication, and that’s all. If you don’t answer, no worries, it will ring again at the next scheduled time, according to the dates and times you selected during registration. In this case, the ACCÈS Volunteer Action Center will not receive any alert.

3- Meal Reminder Alerts

Your phone rings, you answer, and the system reminds you that it’s time to eat your meal, and that’s all. If you don’t answer, no worries, it will ring again at the next scheduled time, according to the dates and times you selected during registration. In this case as well, the ACCÈS Volunteer Action Center will not receive any alert.

Content of messages during the various calls/alerts:

Monitoring or Security Calls:

"Hello! This is a daily monitoring call from your SécuriCAB service. If you are not feeling well, please hang up immediately and we will send help." However, if everything is okay, please press number 1. And I wish you a good day!

Medication Reminder:
Hello, this is a reminder that it’s time to take your medication! Have a good day.

Meal Reminder:
Hello, just a friendly reminder to take a few minutes to grab a snack. Enjoy your meal!
